Microsoft It seems impossible to imagine that there's anyone in the world (who isn't employed by Microsoft) that could possibility try and talk about this game without instantly referring to the PlayStation 2's Buzz! series. In fact if the Scene It? name hadn't been licensed from the popular range of board games Microsoft probably would've been on the receiving end of a few stern letters from Sony's lawyers. As it is the game's main gimmick, that it comes with four special game show buzzer controllers, is identical to Buzz! They even look exactly the same, although Microsoft has got the extremely shaky defence that the Buzz! games have never been released in America.

If you've not played the original board and DVD game version of the concept the basic idea is that you are presented with a series of themed and general knowledge movie trivia questions, many linked to a series of clips from the respective movies. The game comes with over 1,800 questions and more than 20 styles of puzzle. These include trying to complete a famous movie quote, guessing a movie title from a partial list of credits and working out a movie's name based on a child's drawing.

Using the buzzers insure that no one can get intimidated by the regular Xbox 360 joypad, with the giant buzzer at the top used to cut in when you think you've got the answer and the four smaller buttons used for answering multiple choice questions. It's not a new idea then, but still a very entertaining one.

Activision It's got the music. It's got the format. It's even got the ice-cold host herself, Anne Robinson. But perhaps surprisingly, what Activision's game of The Weakest Link also has is plenty of entertainment value. The game closely mirrors the format of the hit BBC quiz show it's based on; players answer questions, bank money, and at the end of each round vote off the weakest player. You answer questions by selecting the appropriate multiple choice response (and only the initials of the various options are revealed at first to make it a bit tougher), and naturally enough aim to win as much virtual cash as possible.

It's good fun too, moving on at a fair pace, albeit interspersed by some overly laborious cut-scenes and scripted responses that become tiring very quickly. Due to the huge number of questions in the game—over 100,000—you're also left with Anne asking things such as "Which of these is the correct answer?", rather than the more personal touch of Eidos' Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Yet this is still undeniably strong entertainment, with some interesting options to help prolong the game's life. Oh, and multiplayer (with up to seven players supported) is a hoot. Which all means that if you're looking for a new game for the family to play, this is a stronger title than you might expect. Just don't let Anne scare you off... —Simon Brew

Eidos Who Wants To be a Millionaire 2 sees a return of one of the biggest selling games of recent times, complete with more questions, more improvements and more Chris Tarrant. It knows it's on to a winning formula and wisely does little to disrupt it. That's not to say there aren't genuine improvements. For starters, the oft-criticised lethargic speed of the original has been speeded up and the improved user interface makes the game even simpler to use. Furthermore, there are over 1000 new questions to keep you taxed (although younger players may still be better off opting for its sister title, Who Wants To be a Millionaire—Junior Edition). But essentially this is still the same game, with the same flaws and assets it had first time around. The questions loop around too quickly, for instance, yet the look and feel of the game still perfectly capture the essence of the TV show. Oh, and they still don't give you any real money at the end of it.

All this adds up to make Who Wants To be a Millionaire 2 a reliable, entertaining game, ideal fodder for the family although hardly likely to satiate the cutting-edge gamer. If you enjoyed the original, though, you'll find that this latest release is money well spent. —Simon Brew

With all the fanfare, Chris Tarrant's voiceover and a plethora of questions to challenge you, it's the chance any avid quiz expert has been looking for to final put their critics to rest.

Dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's, the game is an exact replica of the television show. And yes before you ask, Chris Tarrant does make sure that "It is your final answer" and that you "are sure" you've made the right choice.

As in the TV game show you have the option to ask the audience, phone a friend and play the 50:50 cards, and just like the real McCoy, the audience do get it wrong and your friends don't have a clue.

With multiplayer options allowing you to practice the fastest finger, head to head competition and teamwork, this game will allow you to drag the whole family into the game.

Surprisingly challenging and pressure building—you can't skip the video sequences, nor Chris Tarrant's voiceovers—this game is great if you have any inclination towards the quiz genre. If you are a hardened fan of the television series then this however, will be more than your cup of tea, allowing you to finally take the seat and try and become a virtual millionaire.
